President Donald Trump hit the links at his golf course in New Jersey a day after engaging in a back-and-forth with North Korea in which both countries threatened to bomb each other.

CNN's Dan Merica shared an Instagram photo of the president with a New York contractor who has repeatedly popped up at Trump's clubs over the past few months, posing for multiple pictures with the president.

The user claims the photo was taken at Trump's club on Wednesday.

Republicans including Trump frequentlyblasted President Barack Obama for playing golf during politically sensitive moments. The former president himself suggested it was bad optics to hit the links after responding ISIS' beheading of an American journalist in 2014.

Trump has already played twice as much golf as Obama did his first year in office. The president also pledged that his 17-day break from the White House is a work trip, not a vacation.

The golf outing came amid rising tensions with North Korea. On Tuesday, Trump threatened to rain "fire and fury" on the Hermit Kingdom, which prompted a swift response from the North, which threatened to bomb Guam, a US territory in the Pacific.
